Call for Entry: Flux; Flare.

Finals are finally overrrr!

I presented my Call For Entry for Jewellery today. Theme is State of Flux. I chose solar flares as my theme.

I would've changed some things, buth I didn't have time and/or money to do so.  This ring really need some gold in there. Should've used some brass, or gold-plating. Brass reacts badly with skin and gold-plating is impossible for me right now. One of the suggestions during crit seems good to add on. A strip that extends over the rest of the fingers that really flares.

Fabrication was... somewhat frustrating. Getting the flare pieces right and level was difficult. Third arms didn't do a thing to help. The ring inside was measured weirdly. Had to cut that crap open to re-do, which wasted tons of time. Stone-setting was okay, though. Easier than I would've thought. The bezels... another story. If I had more time, I would've tried to clean up the rest of the firescale (SO MUCH. SO. SO. MUCH. FFFFFF.) and satin-buffed it more. And. Silicone rubber pink wheel. 'nuff said.

Overall, I'm pleased with the results, but it wasn't the best I could have done. Cleanup was a bitch to get to as well.

... I should really work on my own stuff before helping other people, seriously.
